As college costs continue to increase, Roden Oral, Facial, and Dental Implant Surgery is doing its part to help. Our Wisdom For Wisdom program provides free wisdom teeth removal to students, helping to offset some of their college expenses, like textbooks.

Emily, 22, from Birmingham, is a student at Jacksonville State University where she is pursuing a degree to become a special education teacher. She is paying her own way through college without support from her parents, so has had to put off important medical decisions, including having her wisdom teeth removed since she was 17. Now her wisdom teeth are causing not only pain, but overcrowding. She finished saying that she wanted the opportunity to have confidence in her smile again.

Diamond, 18, from Sterrett, just graduated from Chelsea High School and plans to attend Jefferson State Community College. Her “aunt” took her in after she and her mom became homeless. In her application she wrote that her wisdom teeth have caused her pain for two years, even making it difficult to eat. Diamond also wrote that she was working at a fast-food restaurant, but had to quit to focus on her schoolwork and track, which paid off as she broke the school record and went to the state championship meet for the long jump.
